Pollarding is a pruning technique which should only be carried out by professionals.
Pollarding is a method of pruning trees and shrubs which stops them from growing too high or too large. During the process the top part of the tree or shrub is removed. The main reason for doing this is to prevent trees from tangling with over head cables or street lights, or it may be that you have limited space in your garden and the tree is casting too much shade.
Removing the top part of the tree allows light to get through and it can encourage a new and healthier head of foliage. If it is not done with care, too much can be removed and this can have a damaging effect on the tree.
Our specialist tree surgeons will assess the reasons for pollarding and ensure that the right outcome is achieved and that tree remains healthy and strong.
